8月8日新加坡25周年國(guó)慶之際，國(guó)際知名的達(dá)卡喇嘛訪新，日本赤軍方面則計(jì)劃暗殺達(dá)卡。香港國(guó)際刑警雷泰（譚詠麟 飾）奉命衛(wèi)護(hù)達(dá)卡，將赤軍領(lǐng)導(dǎo)北島三郎支部殲滅。在達(dá)卡所乘坐飛往新加坡的客機(jī)上，黑道人物大B（劉德華 飾）與女友阿玲（羅美薇 飾）偶然結(jié)識(shí)達(dá)卡，達(dá)卡推算出自己與阿玲八字相同，他們的命運(yùn)面臨同樣的一次挑戰(zhàn)。飛機(jī)剛一降落，機(jī)場(chǎng)的赤軍份子突襲達(dá)卡，將達(dá)卡和阿玲打傷，而這兩人的血型居然都是罕見(jiàn)的P型血，全新加坡此時(shí)只有三名P型血公民，如果不能在8小時(shí)內(nèi)找到血液，兩人都將有性命之虞。潛藏在新加坡的北島余部迅速展開(kāi)對(duì)P型血人士的追殺，雷泰等人始終落后一步，大B擔(dān)心女友安危，強(qiáng)迫雷泰與自己合作，而此時(shí)，P型血人士只剩最后一名肥波（曾志偉 飾）……
