醫(yī)生劉文（梁朝偉 飾）表面是個(gè)玩世不恭的人，但他實(shí)際非常細(xì)膩、洞悉世情的人。他厭惡不公的醫(yī)療制度，決定到紅燈區(qū)經(jīng)營(yíng)診所。醉心醫(yī)學(xué)的他醫(yī)術(shù)高強(qiáng)，面對(duì)貧苦大眾好施醫(yī)德。在他的病人當(dāng)中有英勇的警員（劉青云 飾）、風(fēng)月女子等等。他除了醫(yī)治病人身體上的傷痛，還樂于傾聽這群草根的心聲，成為了他們的好友。但他卻被昔日的好友陷害，劉文面臨被吊銷醫(yī)生執(zhí)照的危機(jī)。
